Lyris + Innerhost: World Class Product and Support
Lyris software is how we created and maintain our nearly 1,000 mailing lists at http://www.aspfriends.com. The load gets heavy -- in January 2001 we were averaging 16 million messages monthly for example. Thats why we use Lyris Extreme software (date is in SQLserver format) hosted by Innerhost. Forbes magazine has recognized Lyris creator John Buckman in their April 2000 issue.
Most of the software I use to the limit, and companies I award contracts to is good but not great. I deal with hundreds/thousands of companies and most are mediocre and have laughable support and very lax quality standards. Lyris is one of a very few companies I deal with in computer field that is a "world class brand".
Lyris is the real deal. They have proved themselves both ways:
Most organizations fail test 1 and test 2 and making their software work as intended is a chore but I am used to the "cognitive friction" the software industry thrusts on us due to sloppy QA.
Lyris perfects their product before it arrives in my hands. And their support and explaining what I missed in the docs is exemplary. If you do have problems with Lyris check the hardware (disk drives, OS has a virus) or other issues -- their quality is so high it is unlikely it is Lyris fault.
That is a rarity in the industry. And I call a spade a spade. My website and in my public speaking career I have attacked many poorly designed products and technologies that dissapointed (atrocities like Visual Interdev, messes like Site Server for example).
Lyris software is fantastic and the product has amazed me many times. Innerhost is a great place to host the software.
