The nomenclature of "tabs" and "shortcuts" and "Base Settings" and "themes" and "templates" needs to be replaced with something clearer linguistically once and for all.
Here are a base set of proposed consistent replacement and new terms. They will evolve based on input from http://groups.yahoo.com/group/agitkomisiono-sinsekvigi and this will be revised accordingly.
I am dealing with the English terms here. Hopefully we will come up with very precise counterparts in all languages.
Tab = Page
this is a no-brainer. A tab has no meaning. A page has the concrete correct one.
Portal = RainbowSite
Both DNN and Rainbow are called portals because they have many of the capablities portal have. But they are not only portals and I dislike the word portal being applied as if that is the only thing that Rainbow did.
Module
This term can stay. They are called WebParts and Portlets by others but module is an acceptable name.
Module Settings
This term can stay.
Module Base Settings
Module Permissions
Module Workflow
This term cannot stay. It needs to be broken down into several terms
- Module Permissions
- Module WorkFlow
