Utility Belt - Future of Utility Belt

This list just reflects the tasks I am willing to commit time to. If you already have the code for some of these tasks and want the credit, send it in!

So you can rest easy, I will mention that Utility Belt will always be FREE for many reasons I don't have time to explain here. I have plans that will take a couple of years to implement - the vision for Utility Belt 5.0 is already in my brain. The coding to get there is a big job for me and an ambitious volunteer team.

Our Utility Belt Discussion list is @
   http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AspNetUtilityBelt

The feature list below is provided to spur discussion, and to give people guidance on the new features already planned so they can focus on suggesting things we have not thought of.  Please send us any additions to  UTILITY BELT you found invaluable you are willing to share.  Here is the list of imminent planned features:

  • File dependent caching for all .mdb and XML file parsing

  • Total control of Table Of Contents and Prev/Next formatting. Alphabetical Indexing in addition to TOC presentation based on tags in XML file.

  • GraphicsHelpers to simplify drawing text and text within boxes in a variety of colors and fonts without learning any GDI or GDI+.

  • High speed mail by generating SMTP Pickup files and bypassing the mail object

  • JavaScript "helpers" to make cross browser JS easy and achieve JS effects for coders who don't know how to code in JS at all.

  • Support of every Amazon XML Webservice call

  • Support for PayPal

  • Support for Google WebServices

  • DataGrid and CRUD "helpers" to make people doing datagrid and data update scenarios have a really easy time.

  • XML "Helpers" that make it so people with no XML experience can read and write XML without ever having to learn DOMs or XMLReaders. 1 line of code from the XMLHelpers will replace hundreds of lines of tedious XML Parsing.

  • Async support for Database calls so many operations can be initiated and run in background while the ASP.net page quickly goes on to next line of code.
